If you publish on WordPress and want new posts shared to social media without copying each link, FS Poster can do that for you. It connects your WordPress site to social accounts, then shares posts automatically or at scheduled times. A schedule tells the plugin when to publish each post.
PressQueue is a free WordPress plugin for Buffer, a service for publishing to social media. FS Poster advertises connections to many networks and services. PressQueue sends posts to the social accounts you have connected to Buffer.
What FS Poster does
FS Poster automatically shares WordPress posts to connected social accounts. Its vendor says it supports 26 social media networks and services. The plugin has a planner for scheduling posts and resharing older content. For integrations, it connects to Zapier and IFTTT, which link online tools. It also supports custom webhooks, which let one service send information to another. These features and available connections depend on each platform’s rules and setup requirements. See the FS Poster feature overview.
You can schedule images and videos from WordPress’s media menu or schedule several items at once. You can also add media through the planner or calendar. The FS Poster media documentation says that sharing videos to Instagram requires FFmpeg, a server extension that processes video files.
Some networks require specific post details and account permissions. For Pinterest, the account needs boards, and each WordPress post needs a featured image. The plugin’s Pinterest instructions describe different ways to connect an account and explain that a custom app needs Pinterest Standard API access. For LinkedIn company pages, the connected account needs permission to manage and publish on the page. FS Poster also supports custom WordPress post types, such as WooCommerce products, according to its LinkedIn feature page.
Before relying on scheduled posts, check how your WordPress site runs scheduled tasks. FS Poster’s vendor-published review says WordPress’s built-in pseudo-cron runs tasks when people visit the site. On a site with little traffic, scheduled shares can run late. The review recommends a server cron, a scheduled task set up through the hosting environment.
What to know about FS Poster’s cost
FS Poster’s main product is paid. A vendor-published review reports that FS Poster offers paid plans and has no free tier. A free FS Poster Lite was on WordPress.org, but the listing says it was closed in June 2025 and is no longer available for download there. Check the edition and license terms before buying.
PressQueue: a free option for Buffer users
PressQueue is a free, open source WordPress plugin that sends posts to Buffer. Buffer connects to your social accounts and publishes the posts. You need a Buffer account with your social accounts added.
Through Buffer, PressQueue supports LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads and Facebook. It does not support Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube or Google Business Profile. It is a better fit if your social accounts are on supported networks, you already use Buffer, and you want WordPress posts to flow into Buffer without paying for a separate WordPress auto-posting plugin.
To try it, download pressqueue.zip from the PressQueue download page, then go to Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin in WordPress. After installing it, paste a personal Buffer API key from your Buffer settings. An API key is a credential that lets PressQueue connect to your Buffer account; PressQueue stores the key encrypted. There is no Buffer login button.
PressQueue starts in test mode, which records what it would share without sending posts. You create rules to choose when to share, which posts qualify, which Buffer channels receive them, and what message, timing, and image to use. New rules start switched off, so test a rule against recent posts before turning it on. A one-click option creates the rule “Share every new post to all my channels.” You can also make “Never share” rules for a category, tag, or author; these take priority over sharing rules.
Messages can include placeholders such as {{ title }} and {{ excerpt }}, and PressQueue adds the post link automatically. You can customize messages for different networks and preview them with a character count. For timing, choose the end of Buffer’s queue or the top of the queue, ahead of posts already waiting. Other options are immediate posting, a Buffer draft for review, and a specific date and time for one post.
PressQueue can use a post’s featured image, an image selected in the post, a social image it creates, or no image. A social image is a graphic with the post title and site name, sized for link previews. You choose its appearance under Settings > Social images. Creating one requires PHP GD with FreeType; if the server lacks that support, PressQueue shares the post with text and a link instead. The image can also appear as the link preview image when someone shares the post URL, with settings to control which posts receive it.
For more details, see the PressQueue documentation or the open-source code. For broader social connections and media scheduling within a WordPress plugin, compare FS Poster’s current network requirements and license terms. For a free WordPress-to-Buffer connection on the networks PressQueue supports, start with its test mode and confirm the rules before enabling sharing.
