The steps depend on where you want to publish. For a Facebook Page, Meta Business Suite lets you write a post and choose when it will publish. Group posts have a separate scheduling option for administrators and moderators. A professional-mode profile, which is a personal profile set up for public content, has a scheduling route in the Facebook mobile app.
If you publish on WordPress, PressQueue offers another route: it shares WordPress posts to Facebook through Buffer, a social media publishing service. The steps below cover Facebook’s built-in options and how PressQueue fits a WordPress publishing setup.
Schedule a Facebook Page post in Meta Business Suite
Meta Business Suite is Meta’s tool for managing content for Facebook Pages and connected Instagram accounts. On desktop, sign in and select the correct Page, then open Planner. Choose Create post and add your text and media. Under the scheduling options, enable Set date and time, choose when the post should go live, and select Schedule. The Meta Business Suite app listing also confirms that the app supports scheduling and managing content.
The Hootsuite walkthrough says its Page workflow lets you schedule posts from 20 minutes to 29 days ahead. Check the date picker for the available range on your account. Before confirming, verify the Page, post content, media, date, and displayed time.
On a phone, you can schedule a Page post in the Meta Business Suite app. Create the post and choose the account, then add the content. Select Schedule for later to set its date and time. The Facebook app also shows scheduling options for Pages and professional-mode profiles, though the menus differ by route.
Schedule a post in a Facebook group
Group scheduling is separate from Page scheduling. Meta’s announcement says group administrators and moderators can schedule posts for a chosen day and time. Open the group’s management area, find Scheduled posts or the scheduling option in the post composer, write the post, and choose its date and time. Menus vary. Make sure your account has an administrator or moderator role, and check that the post appears in the group’s list of scheduled posts.
External schedulers may use reminders for group posts rather than publishing automatically. For example, Buffer says users must finish publishing in Facebook after receiving a notification. Its group publishing instructions explain this reminder-based method.
Schedule WordPress posts with PressQueue
PressQueue is a free, open source WordPress plugin that shares your posts through Buffer to Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Mastodon and Threads. You need a WordPress site that allows plugin uploads and a Buffer account with your social accounts added.
To set it up, download pressqueue.zip from the PressQueue download page. In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin and upload the ZIP.
Next, copy your personal Buffer API key, a code that lets PressQueue connect to Buffer, from your Buffer settings and paste it into PressQueue. PressQueue stores the key in encrypted form and shows your connected social accounts as switches, which start turned off. Create a sharing rule that says which WordPress posts PressQueue should share to which social accounts. New rules also start off: test the rule against recent posts, then switch it on when the results look right.
Choose whether Buffer adds the post to the end of its queue (the list of posts waiting to publish), puts it at the top of the queue ahead of posts already waiting, shares it right away, saves it as a draft for review, or shares one post at a date and time you choose. A WordPress post scheduled to go live is eligible to be shared when it publishes. PressQueue also lets you customize the message and image for each network. See the PressQueue documentation for setup details.
Find or change a scheduled post
For a post scheduled in Meta Business Suite, check Planner or the content area to find it. Open the post’s options to check for editing or deletion controls. The available actions depend on how you scheduled it; a post created in the Facebook app may need to be deleted and recreated to change its details. After making a change, confirm that the post still appears with the intended publication time.
