PressQueue has one switch for the whole plugin, under Settings, "Sharing mode". It has three positions.
| Mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| "Test mode" | Every post is checked and recorded. Nothing is sent to Buffer. PressQueue starts here. |
| "Live" | Posts that match a rule are sent to Buffer. |
| "Paused" | Nothing is sent. Shares that are waiting stay on hold until you resume them. |
Test mode
In test mode PressQueue does everything except send. Publish a post, and Activity records a test run with the channels and the message it would have sent. The Overview counts them under "Would share this week". Share now and Share old posts record test runs too.
Switching to Live only affects posts published from then on. Test runs are never sent.
Going live
Click "Go live" on the Overview, or choose "Live" under Settings, "Sharing mode", and confirm. Before you do, check that your channels are on, at least one rule is tested and on, and the test runs in Activity look right.
Pausing
Choose "Paused" to stop everything at once. New shares are held with the reason "Held because PressQueue was paused." The WordPress dashboard shows "PressQueue is paused." with the number of shares on hold.
Click "Resume sharing" to go back to Live. Shares held during the pause stay on hold. Open Activity, "On hold", and click "Resume all on hold" or "Cancel all on hold", or handle them one by one.
Stopping one account or channel
You do not have to pause everything. On the Channels page, switch off a channel, or turn off a Buffer account under "More". Rules skip them until you switch them back on.
Deactivating the plugin
Deactivating PressQueue stops it from picking up new posts and from running background work. Your rules, channels and history stay.
