Timing

Choose where a share goes in Buffer, from the end of the queue to a fixed date and time.

The "Timing" section of a rule says where the share goes once Buffer has it. Your posting times live in Buffer, per channel. PressQueue hands the share to Buffer with one of these instructions.

Option What Buffer does
"Add to the end of the Buffer queue" Posts it in your next free time slot after everything already queued. Recommended.
"Top of the Buffer queue" Posts it in your next free time slot, ahead of posts already waiting in your Buffer queue.
"Post right away" Publishes it as soon as PressQueue sends it.
"Save as a Buffer draft" Nothing goes public. You review and schedule the draft in Buffer.

A date and time for one post

A rule has no fixed time, but a single post can have one. In the editor, open "Customize for this post", set "Timing" to "Pick a date and time" and fill in the date, the time and the time zone. The time must be at least 15 minutes ahead and no more than a year out.

If that time passes before the share goes out, for example because PressQueue was paused, the share is held: "Held because the chosen date and time passed before it could be sent." Resume it or cancel it in Activity.

Timing in Share old posts

A batch has its own timing: spread across the Buffer queue, one at a time from a start time, or all as Buffer drafts. See Share old posts.

Test mode and Buffer drafts

Test mode stays inside WordPress and sends nothing to Buffer. "Save as a Buffer draft" sends the share to Buffer as a draft, which you then schedule in Buffer. See Test mode, Live and Paused.

What "Sent to Buffer" means

Buffer accepted the share and publishes it according to the timing. The share details in Activity show what Buffer said when it accepted the share, for example "Waiting in the Buffer queue", "Scheduled in Buffer" or "Saved as a draft in Buffer".
